Six Tanks, One Team: Custom API 650 Storage Tanks for a New Processing Plant

When a new processing plant needs storage tanks built to an exacting standard, the margin for error is zero. Recently the Carlyon teams delivered and installed six tanks for a new processing plant, and three of them were designed and built by us, start to finish.

Built to API 650, built to last

Of the six tanks, three were custom designed and fabricated in-house by our Manufacturing team to API 650 standards. API 650 is the international benchmark for welded storage tanks, and it is the standard the fuel and industrial sectors rely on for tanks that have to perform safely for decades. Building to it is not optional. It is the difference between a tank that lasts and one that does not.

Sized for the job, not off the shelf

These were not stock units pulled from a shelf. The tanks ranged from 70,000 to 100,000 litres and were tailored specifically to meet the client's process requirements. Every detail was designed around how the plant actually runs, so the storage fits the process rather than the other way around.

From the workshop floor to the plant site

Once fabrication was complete, the tanks were handed over to our Projects team for on-site installation. Moving and setting tanks of this size is a serious piece of work in its own right, and the delivery and installation were completed successfully, exactly to plan.

Design, build and install under one roof

This is what end-to-end delivery looks like in practice. Design, fabrication, delivery and installation, all handled by Carlyon teams working together. No handoffs between separate companies. No gaps for things to fall through. One team accountable from the first drawing to the final tank in position.
